For her first book, Wishbone: A Memoir in Fractures, Julie Marie Wade won the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Memoir. Reviewers praised its “poetic” qualities – no surprise, perhaps, for Julie is also a poet whose work has been nominated several times for the Pushcart Prize. (To find out more about her poetry, click here.)

Currently teaching in the creative writing program at Florida International University in Miami, she has earned a Master of Arts in English, a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities.

If you’re wondering how she funded all this, she sold shoes (for commission) and ladies sportswear (for no commission); taught at a boarding school; and worked as an amanuensis for “a beloved mad scientist.”

She lives in Hollywood, Florida, with her spouse, Angie Griffin, a librarian.
